Is The Left Bank a listening bar?

Yes. The room is arranged around the music. A carefully chosen vinyl collection, played properly, on a system built for the space. You don't need to know anything about hi-fi to enjoy it. You just need to like being somewhere that sounds good.

What is a listening bar?

A bar where the music is the point, not the background. Records are selected and played with intention, the system is built for the room, and the volume sits where you can still hold a conversation but the music genuinely carries. The idea has roots in Japan. This version is rooted in Glasgow.

Can I request a song?

It's not a jukebox. There's usually someone selecting, and part of the pleasure is being taken somewhere by them. But this is a friendly room, not a precious one. Have a word at the bar; a good request at the right moment is always welcome.

Can I bring my own records?

On the right night, with a word in advance, often yes. Especially if you're a selector or have something worth hearing. Message us on Instagram or ask at the bar.

Do you host DJs and selectors?

We do. Glasgow selectors and guests every Friday and Saturday. Check Upcoming for who's playing.

Because they were designed around the same idea the bar is: that what matters is how music feels in a real room, not how it measures in a lab. They fill a space rather than firing at a single chair. There's more on that in the journal.

Yes, all day every day. The kitchen runs from ten in the morning till late. Brunch till four, dinner from four, and a late kitchen that runs till one in the morning. The Lebanese breakfast and the eggs mornay have been on the menu since 2006.

Do you have a vegan menu?

Yes, always on. A full vegan menu sits alongside the main menus all day, every day. Ask at the bar or see Menus.

Do you have a gluten-free menu?

Yes, always on. A dedicated gluten-free menu runs alongside the main menus all day, every day.

Are children welcome?

Yes. Children are welcome until 10pm when accompanied by a responsible adult and dining. Family-friendly through the day; the room shifts toward grown-up evenings as the night goes on.

Do you take large bookings?

Yes. Groups of eight or more, drop us a line through the contact page or message us on Instagram so we can plan the room properly.

Can I book an area of the bar?

For larger groups or private gatherings, get in touch and we'll see what works for the night you have in mind. The listening bar area is the heart of the room; the rest of the space flexes around it.

Are you open every day?

Yes. Seven days a week, ten in the morning till late. Sunday through Thursday till midnight. Friday and Saturday till one.

Do you take bookings?

Yes, on the website. Walk-ins always welcome too, especially earlier in the evening.

Are you dog-friendly?

Information you give us directly

Bookings: When you book a table through our website, you provide your name, email address, phone number, party size, requested date and time, and any notes (for example dietary requirements). This is collected by our reservations partner Toast on our behalf.
Gift cards: When you buy an e-gift card online, our payments partner Toast collects your name and email address, the recipient's name and email address, any personal message you add, and your payment details. Payment is handled entirely by Toast; we never see your card details.
Email correspondence: If you email us at contact@theleftbank.co.uk, we receive whatever you choose to send us, typically your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically

Cookies and similar technologies: When you visit our website, we and our partners may set cookies on your device to make the site work, understand how it's used, and (with your consent) measure and personalise advertising. See section 7 for details.
Analytics data: Information about how you use our site (pages viewed, time on site, referring website, approximate location, device and browser) is collected via Google Analytics 4 only if you accept Statistics cookies.
Advertising data: If you accept Marketing cookies, the Meta Pixel collects information about your activity on our site so we can show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram and measure how our ads perform.

5. International transfers

Some of our partners (notably Toast, Google and Meta) are based in or transfer data to the United States or other countries outside the UK. 6. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only as long as we need to:

Bookings: held by Toast in line with their retention practices, typically up to 24 months after your last visit. We may keep our own records of regular customers in our reservations system to recognise you on future visits.
Gift card records: held by Toast for as long as needed to honour the card and to meet our accounting obligations.
Email enquiries: kept while we deal with your enquiry and for up to 12 months afterwards in case you come back to us. After that we delete or archive them.
Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 retains event-level data for 14 months by default. Aggregated reports may be kept longer for trend analysis.
Cookie consent records: held by Cookiebot for 12 months, after which we ask you again.

7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, grouped into four categories:

Necessary: required for the site to work (for example session and security cookies). These don't need consent.
Preferences: remember choices you make to improve your experience.

Our website uses HTTPS encryption, our partners (Squarespace, Toast, Google, Meta, Cookiebot) maintain industry-standard security, and access to booking and email information is limited to authorised members of our team.

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change our reservations system, add new analytics tools, or in response to changes in the law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed. We recommend checking it periodically.
